Welcome to Artfuse
I have lived in many parts of the world, giving me the opportunity to experience a diversity of cultures. I have participated in workshops and taken instruction from artists in England, Germany, Egypt and of course Canada. I am primarily, self taught, in watercolours. In the mid nineties I returned to school where I worked towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I went on to receive a degree in education as well. Because these degrees are recent they put me in touch with the current thinking in art, painting and education. As a newly emerging artist my style is not yet determined although each year I see it consolidating.
My interests are highly divergent but my subjects are not. I gravitate towards landscape and flowers using these as metaphors for life experiences. When I play with the mind through words and images I get a feeling of excitement. Morphing perspective and size allows the viewer to question their own reality and perhaps mine as well. Both teaching and art are passionate experiences for me. I really cannot put one above the other. That I have the opportunity to do both leaves me very fulfilled. My students feel safe enough to take the risks necessary to learn and to expose their creativity and I find that their success pushes me even further.
